Ocean City Ready to Pony Up $100,000 for Movie Production

There could be a $100-thousand from Ocean City for the making of an independent movie to be produced in the resort.

With a unanimous vote Town Council President Jim Hall noted that the movie including the trailer will be shot on the Boardwalk.

He pointed out the benefit to the town of Berlin when the film Runaway Bride was filmed there.

“Its $100-thousand worth of advertising that’s going to say come to Ocean City,” Hall said.

But the Salisbury Daily Times reports this does not mean it’s a done deal.

The City Attorney Guy Ayres said that under state law the resort will have to find a non-profit foundation like the one operated by the Greater Ocean City Chamber of Commerce to pass along the money.

Melanie Pursel, the Chamber’s executive director, said she is waiting to hear about the legal details.
