Delaware Food Bank Expands in Sourthern Part of State

The Food Bank of Delaware is expanding its operations in the southern part of the state.

The organization already helps to feed more than one of every four Delawareans.

And the non-profit will start a $2.8 million expansion at its Milford branch to serve the state’s fastest growing needy population.

Chief Executive Officer Patricia Beebe said that residents of Kent and Sussex counties are depending on the Food Bank to increase its effort to provide hunger-relief and job training in the southern part of the state.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the food bank has set a mandatory pre-bid meeting for contractors at 10 am Wednesday morning at its Milford site.

The announcement comes as the organization is working to raise the money for the expansion with a million dollars left to go.
