The high temperatures combined with sudden thunderstorms have brought with them power outages on Delmarva.
Anne Whaples with Choptank Electric Cooperative says there was an isolated outage for one substation but so far no rolling blackouts.
Around 862 of its customers in the western part of Salisbury lost power on Sunday for around two-and-half hours caused by the high power demand during the heat wave.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports…that the day before 100-degree temperatures caused just over 600 Delmarva Power customers in Salisbury to lose electricity.
In addition the utility’s customers in cities ranging from Delmar and Fruitland to Ocean City and Pocomoke City have lost power over the last several days.
Matt Likovich with Delmarva Power told the paper that some 3-thousand residents did not have power in Ocean City during the early morning hours yesterday because of a storm.
