A crew of 20 Delaware firefighters has joined the fray to battle a 92-hundred acre Colorado fire.
They are among 635 firefighters from around the nation fighting the Weber fire one of the smallest of the many burning across the western states.
It’s difficult terrain and extremely steep with the firefighters working a 14 hour day.
The Delaware crew boss Glenn Gladders said that two teams are doing daytime mop-up operations which involves putting out fire flare-ups in burned areas.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that firefighters made fire breaks or cleared around dozens of empty homes and other buildings as well as communication towers and archaeological sites.
Gladders said there have only been minor injuries including minor burns and blisters.
