Somerset County Commissioners to Consider Expansion of Library

The Somerset County Commissioners are set to look at plans for a new Crisfield library.

Jennifer Ranck, the county library director, said she would ask the commissioners to write a letter in support of state funding for the first phase of its construction.

She noted that the county included a half a million dollars during the 2013 fiscal year budget to pay for design work of the new building.

Two years ago the library’s board of trustees chose a city-owned lot on Collins Street as the site of the new branch.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that it is part of a larger piece of property that is being developed into a city park.

The 2011 purchase of the land by the board cost $195-thousand.
