Talks On Again Over Future of Milton Theater

There could be a future after all for the old Milton Theater.

After it closed the bank partnership took over the property from a non-profit.

Now talks have resumed over the theater’s future.

Milton Development Corporation wrote to its supporters and donor in late May that discussions are on again with the Delaware community Investment Corporation – a partnership of 35 banks that provides money to community revitalization.

Maryellen Davis, acting president of the Milton Development Corporation, told the Wilmington News Journal that it’s still too early to comment on the details of the discussions.

But she added – in her words -- at least they’re talking to us.

The Delaware Community Investment Corporation has experience with historic theaters.

In Wilmington it provided $5.1 million in bridge financing for the Queen Theater.
