The Delaware Department of Transportation could be looking at cutting door-to-door para-transit service for disabled residents.
Agency secretary Shailen Bhatt indicated that serious reductions were expected during a Joint Finance Committee briefing yesterday…on the agency’s proposed $346 million budget.
In addition…the troubled ferry in western Sussex…that crosses Nanticoke River southwest of Seaford…could also see some cuts.
The Wilmington News Journal reports…that State Representative Joe Miro…pointedly asked whether the ferry was needed at all.
It had been a crucial commuter link for workers at the former DuPont Seaford nylon plant.
The ferry has been recently replaced and there have been dock upgrades.
That has cost the taxpayers $3.2 million.
