Salisbury Sewage Treatment Case Headed for Trial Next Week

Sewage, fotosearch.com

The botched sewage treatment project in Salisbury is about to go to court late next week assuming there is no settlement.

The city is seeking $2.8 million that Construction Dynamics Group received for managing construction of the project.

In June the city settled with the plant’s designer – engineering company O’Brien & Gere for $10 million.

The city had sought $75 million.

Dynamics Group denies any wrong doing arguing that it merely tracked the progress of construction but was not responsible for the work itself.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the company notes it did not hire the design engineering firm or the construction contractor.

In 2008 the $80 million plant was hailed as a way to cut nitrogen and phosphorus pollution into the Chesapeake Bay.

But upgrades did not solve the plant’s problems leading to the lawsuits and a $54 million fix.
