ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan is proposing the state cut income taxes for retirees.
The Republican governor says his proposal would bring more than $1 billion in tax relief to retirees over five years.
He says it would benefit more than 230,000 state residents. Hogan says Maryland taxes force too many residents to leave the state when they retire.
Hogan says retirees who make $50,000 or less would pay no state income taxes under his plan.
He says retirees earning less than $100,000 would see tax reduction of no less than 50 percent and up to 100 percent.
