creative commons

2019 may be one of the worst years for deaths from a drug overdose.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that last year outpaced the record set by 2018 with some 400 deaths.

There was a dip last year during from February through April as the state began new efforts at outreach to vulnerable people.

But the number then rose sharply into double digits during the summer months with a spike in Sussex County in June followed by a July jump in Kent County.

Halfway through December there were 15 suspected overdose death.
