Delaware City Refinery to Get Hydrogen Facility

pbfenergy.com

DELAWARE CITY, Del. (AP) - The Delaware City Refinery says it will tap on a new source of hydrogen late next year.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports the refinery owned by PBF Energy has long discussed plans to build a Delaware hydrogen plant.

The plant would be built just before the United Nations imposes sulfur restrictions on fuel for cargo ships.

The additional hydrogen will enable the refinery to produce larger amounts of low-sulfur fuel for ships. It also will enable the refinery to refine less expensive heavy crude.

Paul Sankey, an analyst, says the plant will allow PBF to capitalize on a wave of demand for clean diesel.
