DOVER, Del. (AP) - A Delaware man convicted of a 1982 double murder is asking the state Board of Pardons to commute his life prison sentence.
Jackie R. Lovett was sentenced to life without probation or parole for the drug-related killings of Lori Todd and Richard Bull. He is scheduled to represent himself Thursday at a pardons board meeting in Dover.
The victims' bodies were found in a tributary of the Pocomoke River in Maryland.
The jury that convicted Lovett heard two conflicting accounts of the murders.
A co-defendant testified that Lovett had shot both victims, but a police officer testified that Lovett admitted that he shot Bull, but said co-defendant Charles Bower later killed Todd.
