Charles C J Abbot Remembered

They gathered at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center yesterday – the friends and family of Charles C J Abbot who was shot and killed last week after he tried to intervene to protect Salisbury University student Kristin Loetz who was wounded by her boyfriend Ryan Shallue before he apparently killed himself.

A series of snapshots were displayed during a slide show remembering the 19-year old.

Ray Norstrom, owner of Courtesy Chevrolet-Cadillac, where Abbot worked as a technician they were sad and angry.

The Reverend Gordon Nock of Oak Ridge Baptist church of Salisbury told the gathering that Abbot had shown the greatest love a person can show that is to die for his friend.

20-year old Loetz is recovering at Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.

The incident has also raised the issue of domestic violence something that the University’s Counseling Center has included in its efforts to deal with these kinds of incidents.
