Saggy Pants Issue Sparks Sharp Exchange at OC Town Council

official photo

You wouldn’t think saggy pants would spark a row.

But it did at an Ocean City town council meeting.

And with an audience at City Hall looking on Council President Lloyd Martin lashed out at his fellow Council member Brent Ashley.

Recently, Ashley was asked about the current controversy over whether saggy pants should be allowed on the resort’s boardwalk by a television station.

That led Martin to charge that Ashley was going out and giving the resort a bad name.

But Ashley shot back that it was the media that called him.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Ashley has pushed for described as “a decency discussion” among council members in the wake of a spate of violent crime.

But it has ended up with a discussion of sagging pants on the Boardwalk.

And, until this week Ashley has not been able to get that discussion at a council and has brought his concerns to the media.

The controversy echoes one that has erupted in Wildwood, New Jersey another seaside resort.
