TOWNSEND, Del. (AP) - Officials in Delaware are looking for volunteers to help remove invasive plants at the Cedar Swamp Wildlife Area east of Townsend.
Officials from the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control say they're conducting the "Bye Bye Boxwood" plant removal project on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. Officials say ornamental boxwood shrubs are crowding out native plants and destroying the native wildlife habitat. That's why they need to be removed.
Volunteers will use hand saws and pruners to take out the plants. Volunteers have to be at least 15 years old to participate.
