Judge Mulls Settlement in Earl Bradley Case

bradley, mug shot

The missing element in the $123 million class-action settlement in the Earl Bradley child molestation case, said the parent of one young victim, was an apology.

She told Superior court Judge Joseph Slights every day her 8-year-old who was seen on one of the home videos that the pediatrician had made of the assault has tried to kill herself.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that she worried that with the settlement being divided between 900 plaintiffs those who suffered the most would not get the assistance they need.

She was not identified in the courtroom although she submitted

her name to officials.

Her remarks came while Judge Slights was hearing arguments yesterday from lawyers about the difficulties in getting insurance companies to pay.

The attorneys showed that the future of Beebe Medical Center is on the line as well as the historic and unprecedented nature of class-action settlement.
