Some Students Can Stay Away From School in Wicomico County Because of Heat

all-free-download.com

The Wicomico County School District is reminding parents that when temperatures rise above 85 degrees they can choose not to send their child to facilities that do not have air conditioning.

These schools include Bennett Middle, East Salisbury Elementary and West Salisbury Elementary.

In addition, there are areas of Pittsville Elementary and Middle that do not have air conditioning.

Upon return the student must have a note from a parent or guardian naming heat as the reason for the absence.

The students will also be able to make up classroom work that was missed.

For those attending school on hot days students are allowed to have water bottles in the classroom and will be allowed to wear cooler clothing and still meet the dress code.

Fans will also be present in classrooms and hallways to keep the air moving and lights can be turned off to keep cool.
