WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Newly released figures show more Delaware public school students are passing Advanced Placement tests. But the percentage of students who passed at least one exam is still lower than the national average.
Advanced Placement classes and tests are geared toward college-bound students, and students can earn college credit for high scores.
The College Board, which administers the test, released results on Wednesday. It says about 20 percent of U.S. high school seniors earned a score of 3 or higher on an AP exam in 2012. In Delaware, The News Journal of Wilmington reports that about 16 percent of students earned at least a 3. The tests are scored on a 1-to-5 scale, with a 3 considered roughly equal to a grade of B- to C.
