Ballet Theatre of Dover’s annual Nutcracker
The annual holiday classic returns to the stage at Dover High School Theatre on Friday, December 6 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, December 7 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Performed by the Ballet Theatre of Dover, it is a timeless tale of how one Christmas Eve, a young girl saves the life of a Nutcracker Prince who has been transformed into an ugly doll, thus breaking a long-standing spell. As a reward, he takes her on a magical journey to his home, the Kingdom of Sweets, where there is a big celebration.
Lauren Miles,16, a junior at Dover High School, will lead the cast in the dual role of Clara and the Sugar Plum Fairy. The role of the Snow Queen will be shared by two dancers – Delaney Hammond (15), a sophomore at Dover High School, and Ashley Klotz (16), a junior at Lake Forest High School.
Guest dancer, Emanuel Bracho, will be dancing the role of the Nutcracker Prince.
Other primary roles will be danced by Hailey Seale as DewDrop, Ciara Coley and Sarina Forston will alternate in Spanish Chocolate, and Ashley Klotz and Macy Friend will share the role of Arabian Coffee. The exciting Candy Canes will be led by Piper More and Sophia Nichols on alternating shows. Other dancers of the school and members of the community ranging in age from 8 to 76, will be dancing in the production.
