After the plaque was put up in downtown Salisbury marking the lynching of Matthew Williams in 1931 and other black men an initiative was begun to create the Truth, Racial Unity, Transformation and Healing Advisory Committee. But as time passed there has not been enough members for the panel to even meet. The Wicomico County Branch of the NAACP and other local rights groups say that Salisbury has not done its part.
In response the city issued a statement that indicated much of the responsibility lay with their organizations to find members. Delmarva Public Media's Don Rush talked with Salisbury Mayor Jack Heath about the city's position.
