Delaware Dems Did Not Violate Campaign Laws with Committee

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware's elections commissioner says a political committee set up by Democratic leaders in the state Senate has not violated campaign finance laws.

Monday's ruling involves an entity called C-11, which was formed in September at the behest of Senate president pro tem David McBride and Majority Whip Nicole Poore.

Justin King, a Republican running for a state Senate seat in central Delaware, challenged a $2,000 donation the committee made to his Democratic opponent, state Rep. Trey Paradee.

Political action committees are limited to donating $600 per election cycle to state House and Senate candidates,

But Election Commissioner Elaine Manlove noted that C-11 was formed as a "political committee" of the state Democratic Party, which means it is not subject to the contribution limits that apply to PACs.
