Governor Larry Hogan has signed a measure that would provide $577 million over a ten year period to Maryland's historically black colleges and universities. It's in response to a settlement of a 15 year long federal lawsuit for underfunding these institutions. One of those is the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Delmarva Public Media's Don Rush talked with the University's president Heidi Anderson about what the funding would mean for UMES. (Part 1)
