NASCAR Drivers to Visit Dover Air Force Base

DOVER, Del. (AP) - NASCAR drivers gathering for this weekend's races at Dover Downs will be spending some down time at Dover Air Force Base, just down the road.

Air Force officials are inviting drivers from all three NASCAR racing series to various events at the base this week.

The activities kick off Thursday evening with more than 30 members from the NASCAR Truck Series visiting the 436th Security Forces Raven section. NASCAR drivers will get a hands-on demonstration of advanced martial arts from the specially trained Ravens personnel, who provide high-level security for Air Mobility Command aircraft and personnel transiting high-risk areas.

Air Force officials also will host a social on Friday night at which NASCAR drivers will be signing autographs.

Other events include a tire-changing challenge and a Sprint NASCAR simulator.
