Mountaire Farms has been given the seal of approval by One Health Certified for the care of their animals.
It’s the first in the nation to get such approval which has been verified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
WBOC reports that the certification looks at disease prevention, veterinary care and responsible antibiotic use.
In addition, it considers animal welfare and environmental impacts.
The experts are drawn from protein companies as well as non-profit organizations and universities.
