Hummer Parade Back On in Middletown

The Hummer’s parade will go on.

But Middletown will have some new guidelines.

Last year the parade featured a parody of undocumented immigrants placed in cages by U.S. immigration authorities.

That provoked local outrage – particularly from the Hispanic community.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the guidelines were hammered out at a meeting where members of the Latino and African American communities spoke up about their concerns.

Jack Schreppler who requested a permit for the parade said he was pleased with the outcome.

Under the new rules the parade participants must follow all state and federal laws…such as a valid driver’s license for those driving the floats in the parade.
