It’s not time yet to spend a few Tubmans.
Those would be the twenty dollar bills that are slated to have the famed former slave and abolitionist replace President Andrew Jackson.
But that did not stop a customer at Greyhound Books in Berlin from trying to spend one.
Well, that is a $20 bill that had a portrait of Harriet Tubman pasted over Jackson’s image.
Holly Eckman who was handed the bill told the Salisbury Daily Times that she checked with the bank and found that as long as such things as the serial number is not altered it’s still legal tender.
Due to redesign delays to ensure against counterfeiting the Tubman twenty will not be ready until 2020.
