Cashless Tolls on Bay Bridge

A new cashless tolling system will be put in place for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge from noon to 10 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays to deal with severe traffic congestion.

The two year project will allow drivers to pass through the booths without stopping.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that drivers will get a bill in the mail that was collected electronically.

Under this system cameras will record the license plate of the car and sent the statement to the registered owner.

In addition, when there are severe backups on Thursdays and Fridays drivers will be allowed to travel east and west on the westbound.
