The former Mayor of Onley Willis Kellam died this week at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital.
He was mayor from 1996 to 2008.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Kellam brought the Veteran’s Day parade to the city and was known as a “Virginia Gentleman”.
He was also one of the founding members of the Society to Preserve the Onley Train Station.
The current mayor Matt Hart issued a statement calling him a great leader who improved life in the city.
He died on September 11th.
A service will be held to mark his life at the Onley United Methodist Church on Saturday at 11 a.m.
