Third Bay Bridge Could Come to Lower Eastern Shore

A Chesapeake Bay Bridge could be coming to a place near you.

There are 14 proposed crossings for the second span.

And one of them would wind up in Somerset County while three other sites could connect Dorchester County with Calvert County.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that one of the goals is to link the Eastern Shore with the other side of the bay.

Delegate Robin Grammer (R-Baltimore) has posted the image of 14 potential locations that include the conservation areas and residential developments.

The current bridge that runs from Sandy Point to Kent Island was opened in 1952.

A parallel span was added over 20 years later.
