Cooling Centers Open in Wicomico County

Cooling centers are opening up in Wicomico County with the heat index expected to hit 105 today and temperatures expected to be in the mid-90’s.

Among the sites the Flanders Room in the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center on Glen Avenue will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that residents must bring their own food, drinks and medicine.

No pets will be allowed.

Meanwhile, the MAC Senior Center on Progress Circle will also be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for residents 55 and older.

County officials recommend that you stay indoors and keep hydrated.

Those most vulnerable include infants, young children, those over 65 and others with medical conditions such as high blood pressure.
