Angler Bill Haugland brought in the first qualifying white marlin of this year’s White Marlin Open in Ocean City.
It weighed 75 pounds and could be as valuable as $2.6 million if his lead holds this week.
But the Salisbury Daily Times reports that it does not come close to last year’s winner with 95.5 pounds.
A qualifying tuna was brought in by Angler Rob Howes of Ocean City at 62 pounds with his boat Game Changer putting him in third place.
First place is still a tuna brought in on Monday at 71 pounds.
There were only 150 boats out on the water yesterday out the 389 registered with the tournament.
On Monday 319 went out.
