Lone Republican Drops Out of Delaware AG Race

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - The only Republican to announce his intention to run for Delaware attorney general so far has withdrawn from the race.

The Delaware State News cites a Wednesday statement from attorney Thomas Neuberger, who referenced his "loyalty" to clients and decision to soon file a lawsuit on behalf of the Wilmington firefighters killed and injured in a 2016 blaze. He plans to sue the city of Wilmington for understaffing the fire department.

Neuberger's law firm has settled a $7.5 million lawsuit with the state on behalf of a correctional officer taken hostage and killed in a 2017 prison riot and survivors.

Four Democrats have declared their intention to run for the position. Attorney General Matt Denn has said he's not seeking re-election this fall.
