WBOC Broadcast Owner Dies After Traffic Accident

MILFORD, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police are investigating a crash between a car and a truck has killed a longtime Delmarva broadcast news executive.

Police say 76-year-old Thomas H. Draper of Milford was bicycling on Slaughter Beach Road near Milford about 7:30 a.m. Thursday when his bicycle was struck by a pickup truck driven by a 37-year-old Lewes man.

Draper was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where he died.

Police said drug and alcohol use do not appear to be a factor in the crash, and no charges had been filed as of Thursday afternoon.

Draper is the longtime owner of WBOC-TV, a CBS affiliate and Associated Press member based in Salisbury, Maryland, with satellite newsrooms in Dover and Milton, Delaware.
