A vote on legislation that would have gradually increased to minimum wage to over 10 an hour was delayed yesterday in the Delaware General Assembly.
The measure would raise the minimum wage by 50 cents a year until it reaches $10.25 an hour.
After 2020 the increase would be based on the cost of living increase under the federal Social Security Act.
Supporters of the increase say it would help low-income families while opponents say it would hurt businesses.
Governor John Carney supports the increase.
