Worker Injured in Explosion at Delmarva Petroleum Plant

A 21-year old worker at the Delmarva Petroleum facility in Lincoln suffered burns over 80 percent of his body yesterday afternoon.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that he was transferred to Beebe Medical Center with first and second degree burns.

The Delaware state fire marshal’s office says that the incident occurred when the worker cut open a waste tank with a chop saw.

Sparks ignited the vapors that cause the flash fire.
