Senator Ben Cardin Website

Senator Ben Cardin blasted the Trump administration on a broad range of foreign policy issues.

They ranged from a failure to take a tough stand on Russia and building a wall along the U.S./Mexico border to trying to impose a travel ban on seven Muslim majority countries.

The Maryland Democrat made his remarks during an appearance at the University of Maryland’s School of Public Policy on the eve of the President’s address to a joint session of congress tonight.

Cardin has emerged as a sharp critic of the Trump administration calling for an independent commission to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

The Democrat noted that he has even reached across the aisle to Republican Senator John McCain to create a congressional oversight panel for the sanctions imposed on Moscow.

The Democrat also expressed concern about reports that the State Department and the Environmental Protection Agency has been target for funding cuts.
