Former UMES Campus Security Officer Wins Harrassment Case

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore has been ordered by a federal judge to pay former campus security officer Iris Foster $125-thousand in compensatory damages.

A decade ago Foster filed a complaint that she was sexually harassed by a coworker.

It was dismissed within six months.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that her initial suit charging the University with a hostile work environment and termination based on gender was dismissed for lack of evidence.

But the paper reports a second suit charging retaliatory harassment and termination finally succeeded.

The University says that there are no plans to appeal the judgment.
