Wilmington saw something in November that it has not seen in five years.
There were no shooting deaths last month.
In addition, 11 shootings took place in November compared to 21 last year.
From November 3rd through the 20th no shootings occurred.
So far this year there have been 138 people shot and 23 killed.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that authorities say they do not know why there was a drop in the shootings.
Chief Bobby Cummings told the paper that violence ebbs and flows.
There are police programs such as Operation Disrupt that get more officers out on the streets along with saturation patrols that got assistance in mid-November from the New Castle County police.
The paper notes that violence picked up with a shooting this month.
