A new report finds that the University of Delaware could be doing more to increase the number of low-income students in its ranks.
That’s the conclusion of a report by the Institute of Higher Education Policy.
The Wilmington News Journal says that the report found only 13 percent of the students at the University qualified for Pell Grants from 2011 to 2013.
But similar institutions had 28 percent.
Among the 10 institutions in the report the University had the lowest percentage of low-income students.
The News Journal reports that Mamie Voight co-author of the report praised the University for its efforts but said it could do better.
Voight is also a native of Wilmington.
