MD Governor Against Confederate Flag on License Plate

BALTIMORE (AP) - Maryland officials are responding to renewed concerns about Confederate symbols on license plates

Last week's U.S. Supreme Court ruling upholding Texas' right to refuse to issue a license plate bearing the Confederate battle flag and in the wake of a massacre at a black church in South Carolina have brought the issue to the forefront.

Gov. Larry Hogan, a day after he announced  that he is against the use of the Confederate flag on license plates.

Members of the Maryland Sons of Confederate Veterans can get a license plate which has a replica of the Confederate flag.

Erin Montgomery, Hogan's press secretary, said Tuesday that the Motor Vehicle Administration and attorney general are addressing the issue.
