Hurlock Fire Damages Church Fellowship Hall

HURLOCK, Md. (AP) - Fire officials in Dorchester County say fire has damaged a building used as a church's fellowship hall in Hurlock.

Firefighters were called to the building next to the Full Gospel Church of God around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officials say the blaze consumed the second and third floor of the building, with damage on the first floor too. It took firefighters more than an hour to extinguish the blaze.

Church members say the building was used as a fellowship hall and for storage. They say that the building was sometimes used for homeless housing, but it was unoccupied when the fire broke out.

The Rev. David Dickerson says the church will hold services at its Denton location on Sunday.

State fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire.
