Firefly Misic Festival Pulls in Big Bucks for Region

A new report found that the Firefly Music Festival held in Dover brought in $68 million for the regional economy earlier this summer.

The University of Delaware study found that each festival-goer spent around $850 for goods and services.

The survey interview around 900 attendees about their purchases at the festival and off-site businesses along with 5-thousand people who were contacted on line.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that study said the festival created 579 full-time equivalent jobs along with wages and salaries of $23 million.

It’s the first official study of the festival’s impact and was commissioned by it host the Dover International Speedway.
