Sales Tax Holiday for School Supplies in Maryland

Don Rush

It’s that time of year again.

Coming up is a sales tax free week in Maryland that begins August 10th and runs through August 16th.

It’s called Shop Maryland week during which time the 6 percent sales tax will not be levied on specific items including clothing and shoes priced at $100 or less.

It’s estimated that the average family will shell out nearly $700 for such things as clothes, school supplies and electronic devices.

There is a list on the Maryland Department of Revenue website of items that fall under the program.
