Residents Report Waterspout Near Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel

It’s been eleven days since a tornado touched down at Cherrystone Campground on the Virginia Eastern Shore killing two and leaving 36 injured.

Now, area residents say they saw a waterspout yesterday near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel.

The Salisbury Daily Times says the reports came in around noon and resulted in the bridge being closed temporarily.

None of the bridge-tunnel employees could make a visual confirmation but the National Weather Service did say radar showed some type of disturbance.

There were no reports of injuries or property damage.
