Lower Eastern Shore residents are being warning that there is a heightened risk of fire because of the lower humidity and sustained winds from the northwest.
The National Weather Service says to expect sustained winds of up to 15 mph with some gusts as high as 25 mph along with humidity values that range upwards of 25 percent.
Officials are urging residents to be cautious in handling potential sources of fire such as machinery and smoking materials.
There is a ban on open air burning in Virginia until 4 p.m.
