No More Blanket Delays in Delaware Drug Cases

A Delaware Superior Court judge has turned down a request by prosecutors for a 60 day delay in all drug trials because of the missing drug scandal that has rocked the state lab.

A previous 30-day delay runs out on March 31st.

This means that prosecutors will have to get delay for individual drug cases that will include detailed explanations as to why a case cannot go forward.

In February, President Judge James Vaughn Jr. issued a blanket stay for one month because of allegations of drug thefts and tampering at the Controlled Substances Laboratory in the medical examiner’s office.
