Delaware Treasurer: Self Financed Campaign

Delaware’s State Treasurer Chip Flowers has loaned his campaign nearly $146-thousand to gear up for re-election this year after only raising $38,000 from supporter last year while becoming embroiled in questions over his travel expenses.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the state Treasurer relied on personal loans of more than $650-thousand since 2009 for his campaign to become state treasurer.

During the same period he raised only around $130-thousand from political supporters.

Flowers told the paper that his self-financing should indicate he was not without political support despite the controversy that hit his office last year.
