DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware State University is getting a $326,000 grant to provide solar energy research and education opportunities for minority students.
The U.S. Department of Energy announced the grant on Tuesday. It is part of a $60 million Energy Department initiative to lower the cost of solar electricity and support a growing solar workforce.
The award will support a new research project to develop thin-film photovoltaic solar technology. The Energy Department says the award is part of its SunShot Diversity in Science and Technology Advances National Clean Energy in Solar program, which aims to drive innovation among groups that are underrepresented in the field.
