Lawsuit Dismissed in Controversial Delaware Land Deal

DOVER, Del. (AP) - State officials have dismissed a lawsuit they filed over a controversial land lease that former Gov. Ruth Ann Minner helped obtain for a political benefactor now serving a federal prison sentence for campaign finance violations.

Attorneys for the Delaware Department of Transportation and NKS Distributors filed a stipulation of dismissal this week with the Court of Chancery.

Attorney General Beau Biden's office filed the lawsuit in 2010 on behalf of DelDOT seeking to revise a 2006 lease of state land in Milford that NKS, a liquor distributorship led by Minner friend Chris Tigani, wanted for a new warehouse but which also was the site of a planned road interchange.

NKS filed counterclaims asserting that the lease was valid. Despite the dismissal, the company retained the right to pursue potential claims.
