The Worcester County Commissioners warned the department heads that despite their budget requests there will have to be a $7.3 million cuts to balance the county government budget.
The Board of Education reported a $400-thousand increase in state funding for schools to come up with a budget total of $76.2 million.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that that is a $2.2 million rise from last year with $1.5 million of that going to teacher salaries.
He noted that Worcester County ranks 15th in the state for starting teacher pay.
Fire Marshall Jeff McMahon asked for a 1.5 percent increase for public safety bringing the budget to $379-thousand.
Richard Outten, court administrator for the Circuit Court, offered up a 3 percent cut in his budget coming out to $1.2 million next year.
